Pumpkin Spice Bread

With Labor Day behind us, it feels like the beginning of fall.  It’s hard to say goodbye to the warm, summer days and bare-feet fun, but with the cooling breeze comes some of my favorite foods.  So it’s time to start welcoming the best of fall.  This recipe for delicious, warm and moist pumpkin spice bread is sure to get you in the autumn spirit.

This recipe is for two standard size loaves.  It’s easy to make and it stays moist for days…. if it lasts that long.

Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon all-spice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup of pumpkin puree (Either from the can or homemade)
2/3 cup oil
2/3 cup water

 

Directions:

1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.) Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly.

3.) Combine all wet ingredients in a separate bowl and mix thoroughly.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

4.) Pour batter into two greased loaf pans.  Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.  Check doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center.
